New Hampshire
Bridget
Hello, my name is Bridget, and I am currently a sophomore in high school. Since the age of twelve, I have been living with severe scoliosis, a condition that has shaped both my medical and personal journey in significant ways. My treatment began with bracing and later progressed to a tether surgery, managed through the care of specialists at both NYU Langone and Boston Children’s Hospital. These treatments were not only physically demanding but also required deep resilience and adaptation.
Alongside my medical care, I pursued Schroth therapy with Amy Sbihli at Spine Academy, which expanded my knowledge of scoliosis treatment and opened doors to new opportunities. This education helped me take an active role in understanding my spine and my recovery. In February 2025, I underwent a spinal fusion from T2 to L3, performed by Dr. Rodriguez at NYU. I am currently in recovery with no complications and am working hard to regain strength and return to my active lifestyle.
Throughout this journey, I have remained dedicated to my academics. As an honors student, I continued my coursework during medical leave and maintained a strong commitment to my education. I am proud to say I’ve balanced both recovery and learning with persistence and discipline.
I am also honored to serve as New Hampshire’s chapter leader. I know firsthand how isolating scoliosis can feel, especially for young girls, which is something my two younger sisters are also beginning to experience. I believe it is not only important but necessary to build a supportive and informed community where we can uplift one another through shared stories, resources, and encouragement. This position gives me the chance to do just that, and I look forward to making a difference.
