Hi, my name is Layla. I was diagnosed with scoliosis 3 ½ years ago. I started wearing a brace right away, and have needed to wear it 18-20 hours a day. I have an S curve (36° & 30°), and I am very fortunate that it has not gotten worse. I used to be ashamed of my brace and would try to hide it, but kids at school could still see it under my clothes and made fun of me. This year, I decided that wearing a brace and scoliosis is a part of who I am. I wear my brace proudly and kids ask questions. I feel good about educating people about scoliosis and I don’t let kids bring me down.
I have a lot of hobbies and enjoy being active. I play on a basketball team at my school, I play guitar and flute. I love Jazz dancing, being a Girl Scout, playing with my 2 cats and 3 dogs, and building puzzles with my family. I also love the different seasons in Montana where I enjoy skiing, sledding, and building snowmen with my twin sister, Crystal.
I am so excited to be a CG Leader in Bozeman, MT. I desire to make friends that can relate to what I have gone through, and who need my guidance through their scoliosis journey. I love helping others and Curvy Girls is a great way to come together.
