Hi my name is Elise! I am 14 years old and I love to do art, participate in theater, choir, and also like to ride horses. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 10 and started treatment at 12. I was given a Boston back brace to wear everyday for 20 hours a day. At age 13, about 1 ½ years later, I started to just wear it at night. I have three curves in total, from top to bottom, 25°, 37°, and finally the bottom one, 26°. I have been attending Curvy Girls since I got my brace and it has helped me so much!

When I first got my brace I struggled because I felt alone. But when my mom found the Curvy Girls flyer in the packet that I got from the hospital and I started going I realized that I was not alone at all. I want to help other girls who feel that way just like my previous leader and the rest of the Curvy Girls’ team did for me. Supporting other girls with scoliosis makes me feel like I am giving back to the thing that helped me so much when I was beginning treatment.
