Hello, I’m Kira! I am 14 years old. I love dance. I currently am a competitive dancer here in Henderson. Not only am I starting high school but majoring in dance in the fall!
I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 13 with a 28 degree curve and was told to start bracing. I was so nervous about what others would think of me. Because my brace took quite a while to perfect, once I got it I was at 30 degrees. School was starting and I did everything I could to hide it. Eventually, people found out and I was made fun of constantly. (Which took a toll on my mental health.) I stopped wearing my brace and continued my 8th grade year. I wish I had the support of girls going through the same thing: So I am here today to inspire other girls to embrace who they are and be the best version of themselves.
I take pride in being a leader. Being a group leader means that I can help others like me not feel so alone. I can be a guide and help as much as I can. Not only can I facilitate but I can have other girls share experiences that are different than mine, giving the courage to others to be their own leader.
