My name is London and I have many passions. I love to play sports, run, go to church, hang out with friends, ride horses, and more. I was first diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 9 years old at my annual well check. My curvatures weren’t too alarming at the time, and I didn’t have to start bracing until I was 12 years old. Once the curves in my spine started progressing, I started visiting Scottish Rite Hospital for Kids. After some time, I received my first brace on December 21st, 2020. I worked my way up to wearing it 18-20 hours each day. It has hard at first, but it eventually became routine, and I was learning how to wear it every day. Eventually, we found the Curvy Girls Facebook Page and got interested. I first attended the virtual meetings they provided until there were face to face meetings. I have attended the Curvy Girls meetings for over a year now, and I am now the Leader of the Dallas Chapter of Curvy Girls.
Luckily for me, scoliosis and bracing have only made me more confident and proud of myself. I want to help the girls feel that scoliosis/bracing is something they can grow from, not get put down by. Through my role in Curvy Girls, I hope to help turn trials into growth.
