At the age of 10, I had an unbearable pain in my back one day after school, and when I went to the doctor, they immediately referred me for x-rays. I was then diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. I had a double curve. Doctors had suggested surgery, which was very scary to me as a young girl. Instead, I attended swimming classes and also sought treatment from multiple chiropractors and physiotherapists. Seven years later, I finally understood that a spinal fusion surgery was the best choice for me. I am currently three weeks post-op and I still believe I made the right choice.
