are proud to have hosted their 1st Annual
"Rock the Curve" Walk for Scoliosis
on Sun., June 12th!
A 2 mile Walk along the Rock River on the
Sinnissippi Rec Path which began & ended at the YMCA Log Lodge
200 Y Blvd, Rockford, IL
Prizes, Silent Auction Items,
Refreshments, & Fun!
The Curvy Girls of IL could not be more excited to tell you all how UNBELIEVABLY successful our 1st Annual "Rock the Curve" Walk for Scoliosis was this past Sunday! Whether you were a Corporate Sponsor, an Individual Donor, a Walker joining us on our journey, a Volunteer, or a Vendor who donated your products or services ~ you each played a vital role in making Rock the Curve 2011 a day these Girls will never forget!
We could not have asked for a more beautiful day as the backdrop of our event! We were Blessed with a turnout of well over 250 Walkers joining us to raise funds and awareness for Scoliosis. As we looked down the Sinnissippi Rec Path, the SEA of green shirts (led by Curvy Girls in pink shirts) was nothing short of awe inspiring! The Curvy Girls definitely felt your love and support on this day!
The generosity of people buying raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets, and bidding on silent auction items was amazing! These were all hugely successful!
Thank you to Aaron Wilson of WIFR for taking the time to Emcee our event - you did a wonderful job! Thank you as well to Karmen Bryer of LilyAnn Lou, Jamie Yaun of LilyBear Photography, and Jenna Villafuerte of Tupperware who were all on hand & donating a portion of their sales back to The Curvy Girls!
A very special thank you goes out to the Volunteers from the Kohls Cares Program who joined us on their own time to help out wherever they were needed! We loved having you with us!!
The highlight of the day was the Surprise Arrival of Leah Stoltz, original Founder of The Curvy Girls! Leah and her parents, Robin & Mike Stoltz, flew all the way from Long Island, NY to surprise Julia & The Curvy Girls of IL! This was an incredibly emotional moment!
We never dreamed we'd be able to organize such a
successful event on our first attempt.
We are humbled & grateful to announce The Curvy Girls' 1st Annual
Rock the Curve Walk for Scoliosis raised funds which nearly TRIPLED the
amount we had in mind as our Goal!
Through your support & generosity, this event raised enough money
for EACH of our Curvy Girls of Illinois & 1 Parent to travel to Long
Island, NY for the National Curvy Girls Convention in the Spring of
2012! At the National
Convention, the Girls will have the incredible opportunity to meet other
Curvy Girls from all over the USA!
(The Curvy Girls of IL was the 4th group to form in April,
2010...a little over 1 year later, there are now 20 groups in 17
States!!) The Girls will
attend Workshops & Meetings. They will learn valuable tools & skills
from various Speakers and from each other.
Leaders will be recognized & plans will be made to spread the
Curvy Girls name reaching out to help as many Girls with Scoliosis as
possible! These and SO many
other opportunities await The Curvy Girls of IL because of your support!
In addition, any remaining funds will be used to foster other
budding Curvy Girls groups as they are formed.
100% of all funds raised will go directly to further the efforts of The Curvy Girls as they reach out to ensure NO GIRL WITH SCOLIOSIS HAS TO FEEL ALONE!
